What’s the difference between “USDT-margined” and “coin-margined” on the contracts page?
First, what they are: Both USDT-margined and coin-margined contracts offer perpetual contracts and delivery contracts that settle quarterly, but their tradable pairs are not exactly the same.
The logic behind them: If you use BTC as collateral to open a coin-margined long position, the collateral itself also fluctuates with the price of BTC. When the price falls, your position loses value and the USD value of your collateral also declines.
Take $BTC as an example: BTCUSDT calculates profit and loss in USDT, while the coin-margined BTCUSD contract calculates it in BTC. The current price is 81206.
Leave enough room in your position to absorb volatility—don’t let a sudden sharp move liquidate you.
