Ethereum validators can earn extra “MEV revenue” when proposing blocks. Where does this money come from?
My understanding: PBS also brings new risks: block building is becoming increasingly concentrated among a handful of builders, and relays have become another link that requires trust.
Validators cannot see the specific transactions in a block before signing its header, which prevents them from seeing the contents and stealing the builder’s MEV opportunities.
What I do: When swapping on a DEX, I can choose a private transaction channel that supports MEV protection to reduce the risk of my transaction being sandwiched.
For blocks produced through MEV-Boost, the builder must use $ETH to pay a bid to the validator proposing the block. Currently, 2378.74.
