Tonight’s market, in one word: the hype is fading
I took another look at tonight’s market, and it’s especially clear—the momentum has faded.
The two most exciting ends of the market cooled off at the same time today: $Q on the futures leaderboard gave back most of its early-session glory, falling from +122.7% to +37.3%—nearly seven-tenths of its gains gone in a day. That’s what happens when a sentiment-driven rally has no follow-through. Meanwhile, $APR narrowed its losses from -41.2% to -34.5%; the bears have backed off too, and the selling has lost its punch.
But fading momentum doesn’t mean the market has stabilized. The broader market looks calm, with BTC at -0.5% and ETH at -1.9%, but among 58 Binance spot coins with 24-hour trading volume of at least $5 million, only 7 rose while 51 fell. Money hasn’t come back—it’s just that even the sellers are exhausted. Liquidations across the market were also muted: ETH had the most at $81.8M, with no liquidation cascade.
Cooling at both ends of the market, plus terrible breadth—that’s the classic look of a dead weekend session: neither bulls nor bears have much energy, and thin trading wears everyone down. Next, watch whether U.S. tech stocks can find a floor on Monday and help breadth recover a little.
