I don’t currently support swapping $BTC , which is falling, for $AVA to avoid losses. AVA just rose against the trend, but then gave back a noticeable amount of those gains.

Between 21:00 and 22:00 Beijing time on October 18, BTC closed lower while AVA closed higher. But based on live quotes from 22:00 to 22:54, AVA fell from 0.4169 to 0.3901 USDT, a drop of about 6.4%; BTC fell about 0.55% over the same period.

The issue is that although the coin you switch into had previously held up better, it may now expose your account to greater volatility. This price action doesn’t prove that AVA will always fall faster in the future, but it’s enough to weaken the case that “switching into it will mean a smaller loss.”

If the goal is to reduce the impact of this downturn, I’d lean toward reducing the amount I’m holding first. For now, I’d treat swapping BTC for AVA as taking on a new risk, not as a way to avoid losses.
