The bull market has just begun, and we’re currently in a pullback. If you had 1 million, how would you allocate it?

Many people feel anxious during pullbacks, but looking at the bigger picture, deep corrections early in a bull market are often rare opportunities for coins to change hands. If I had 1 million in long-term capital, I wouldn’t gamble on obscure assets. I’d focus entirely on the two leading assets: BTC and ETH. One helps stabilize the portfolio and provides defense; the other offers exposure to the explosive growth potential of its ecosystem.

BTC: The portfolio’s ultimate anchor (recommended: 650,000–700,000)

Bitcoin is the value anchor and bedrock of consensus for the entire crypto market. With institutional capital and spot ETFs continuing to accumulate, BTC is far more resilient to risk than other assets during a cyclical bull market.
During pullbacks, BTC is often one of the least prone to falling and one of the quickest to recover. Its larger market cap may make 100x returns a distant dream, but it remains the anchor that keeps you steady throughout the bull market. During early bull-market retests, allocating 65%–70% of your portfolio to BTC in stages is primarily about making sure you aren’t easily shaken out amid the turbulence.

ETH: The high-potential engine for capturing the next major on-chain rally (recommended: 300,000–350,000)

If BTC is digital gold, ETH is the infrastructure powering on-chain growth. DeFi, Layer 2, and the liquidity boom ultimately all benefit from the Ethereum ecosystem.
Although its price volatility during choppy markets can be frustrating, Ethereum typically has greater explosive potential than BTC during the main leg of a bull market. Allocating 30%–35% of your capital to ETH lets you enjoy the security of BTC while seeking the outsized beta returns that can come from growth across the on-chain ecosystem.

Practical strategy during a pullback:

When you have a large amount of capital, the biggest mistakes are going all-in during a one-way decline or blindly chasing rallies and selling into weakness after support breaks. During an early bull-market retest, a more comfortable approach is to build your position in stages, patiently wait for signs that key support levels are holding, and then gradually increase your exposure once the market structure on the right-hand side becomes clearer.
Long-term spot investing has never been about whether prices rise or fall over a day or two. It’s about whether you can hold assets that have genuine consensus behind them. If you had 1 million right now, how would you split it between BTC and ETH during this pullback? 🤔
