This week’s prediction roundup. Starting this week, I’ll keep a record of every prediction and review them one by one when the time comes—showing both the hits and the misses.
First, one that came true: On October 12, I read a chart for Jeffrey Huang, aka “Machi Big Brother.” The prediction said, “June and October this year will be the tightest months; we’re in October now.” Three days later, all of his positions were liquidated. To be honest, he was only about 1.5% away from the liquidation threshold that day. This one was inferred from the chart, so it wasn’t especially difficult to call.
Here are a few new predictions from this week. The dates haven’t arrived yet, so none can be counted as a hit or a miss:
Dawn: Her November tour revenue this year will likely be better than expected, and there may be a last-minute change to her December schedule or a contract.
Zhang Yiming: Be careful with contract terms and the way overseas regulators interpret things in December; there will be changes among the people around him in January next year.
California Governor Gavin Newsom: For the November 3 vote on Proposition 40, I lean toward the result being more favorable to him than his critics expect, but any win will come with strings attached. In December, the budget figures will draw some harsh criticism.
Li Ka-shing: There will be disagreements among those around him this year, so it’s best to hold off on major moves. In 2027, take it slow with the family succession and major signings.
The next checkpoint is California’s November 3 vote. Once the results are out, we’ll review the prediction.
