If your capital is under 1,500U, don’t rush to think about turning things around!
Honestly, when trading crypto with a small amount of capital, the biggest risk isn’t making money slowly—it’s losing your starting capital through a few impulsive trades before you’ve had a chance to grow it.
I’ve seen plenty of people enter the market wanting to double their money right away. They go all in chasing rallies, then add to losing positions, and in the end, they miss the market move and have less and less money to trade with.
I once knew a guy who started with 1,200U and grew his account to over 20,000U in a few months. Of course, that’s just one example and doesn’t mean everyone can do it. What’s really worth learning from are the three trading rules he consistently followed.
First, separate your funds. Don’t put all your capital at risk at once.
Based on your trading plan, you can divide your funds for different purposes: some for short-term trades, some to wait for swing-trading opportunities, and the rest as a reserve.
You don’t have to trade every market move. Having some room to maneuver means one mistake won’t leave you on the back foot.
Second, place fewer trades and wait for confirmation.
If the trend isn’t clear, sit on the sidelines. Even when there’s a breakout on strong volume, watch to see if the price can hold steady afterward. Don’t rush in just because you see one big bullish candle.
Remember: the market offers opportunities every day, but not every opportunity is meant for you.
Third, set your stop-loss and take-profit levels in advance.
Before entering a trade, decide where you’ll exit if you’re wrong and where you’ll take profits in stages if you’re right. If the direction is wrong, don’t comfort yourself by continually adding to your position. If you have a series of losses, pause trading and review what happened.
Don’t rush to take profits as soon as you make a little, while stubbornly holding on to losing positions. If your trading rules only apply when you’re in profit, they’re meaningless.
If your capital is under 1,500U, the most important thing isn’t rushing to make a certain amount of money. It’s building a set of trading rules you can stick to over the long term.
Growing 1,200U to over 20,000U is one person’s experience, not a guarantee. Don’t just focus on other people’s returns—be clear about how much risk you can handle.
Learn to control your losses first, then think about increasing your returns. As long as you still have capital, there will always be opportunities.
If your capital is currently under 1,500U, which of these do you find hardest to do?
A: Keep your hands off and avoid placing impulsive trades
B: Set strict stop-losses and don’t hold on to losing positions
C: Don’t get greedy when you’re in profit—take profits in time
