Let’s talk about UTXO and account models.
Ethereum has two types of accounts: externally owned accounts (EOAs), controlled by private keys, and contract accounts, controlled by code.
One thing worth thinking about is that in the UTXO model, unrelated transactions can be verified in parallel, and using a new address to receive change also helps protect privacy. The trade-off is that writing complex contracts is less convenient.
If you find that some of your Bitcoin has gone to a new address you own after sending Bitcoin, it’s usually change—not lost coins.
$BTC uses the UTXO model. The balance shown in a wallet is actually the sum of many unspent outputs. Currently 82107.54.
