Futures Trading | What’s the difference between one-way and hedge mode?
In one-way mode, if the amount you sell exceeds your current long position, the excess will open a short position (unless Reduce-Only is enabled).
Hedge mode is often used when you want to hold positions in both directions at the same time—for example, keeping a long position for the long term while using a short position to hedge against a short-term pullback.
