A video has appeared online showing a confrontation with Ukrainian border guards on the border with Moldova. Moldova’s Prosecutor General’s Office said it had opened criminal proceedings over the illegal crossing of the state border.
The video, shared online, shows two men in Ukrainian military uniforms sitting in a boat. Nearby on the shore, apparently on the Moldovan side of the border, a group of people can be seen arguing with the men in the boat.
In particular, they were accused of allegedly “drowning” another man whom they had pursued as he attempted to cross the border.
According to Moldova’s Border Police, on October 15, two Ukrainian border guards entered the country’s territory during an operation to detain a Ukrainian citizen. Both were detained “to carry out the procedures prescribed by law,” and criminal proceedings were opened over the illegal crossing of the state border.
