Altcoins collectively put on a “falling into new positions” show this weekend 📉

Prices are falling, but Binance Futures open interest is rising—is this dip-buying, or a slow bleed?

$DOT: Down 5.6% over 24h to $1.10, breaking below all short-term moving averages; Binance Futures OI went against the trend, up 10.9% (about $39.3 million). Longs make up 64.2%, and the long ratio among top traders is 69.1%.

$ARB: Down 3.7% over 24h to $0.18; OI up 3.4% (about $48.5 million), with longs at 58.4%. Incidentally, about 92.65 million ARB tokens were just unlocked from Oct. 10–16, but the price didn’t collapse after that selling pressure was absorbed.

$LINK : Down 2.2% over 24h to $11.98, also breaking below all key moving averages; OI up 1.4% (about $104 million), with longs at 60.0% and top traders at 66.1%.

My take: Falling prices + rising open interest + longs at around 60% usually leads to one of two outcomes—the longs buy the dip too early, then sell to break even on a rebound; or shorts use the opportunity to add positions, accelerating the move after support breaks. Weekend liquidity is already thin, so this kind of divergence should be taken with a grain of salt. Next, watch these three support levels: DOT at $1.07, ARB at $0.17, and LINK at $11.46. If they don’t hold, the bulls will have to admit defeat.

Do you think dip buyers are accumulating, or are shorts adding to their positions?
