#nil $NIL @Nillion Dusk—the first version of Covenants—is now officially live on Ethereum mainnet. This is a true mainnet launch, not a testnet. Anyone can now create a Covenant, run a node, or build with the SDK. It’s completely permissionless and available immediately, with hosted node options for operators who don’t want to self-host. The encrypted market is no longer just a concept—it’s open for everyone to build on.

Covenants are a core product of the Nillion network, and what I love most about them is this: they’re instructions no one can read until they’re triggered. You write an instruction—sell at a certain price, bid in an auction, release a payment—seal it behind a condition, and publish it on-chain in fully encrypted form. While it waits, no one can read it. When the condition becomes true, it opens and executes on its own. No bots to run, no keeper services, and no third party holding your instructions and promising not to peek.

This directly addresses blockchain’s transparency problem. Open the liquidation map on any perpetuals platform and you’ll see the exit points of thousands of traders, exposed hours before they take effect. No one leaked this information; it’s simply an inherent property of transparent blockchains. It’s also why stop-loss hunting works, vault strategies get copied within a week of launch, and large orders move against their own interests. Covenants were built to change that.

Dusk is just the first era in Nillion’s seven-stage roadmap, which runs through 2028. Dusk’s scope is deliberately narrow—conditions are based on price or time—because that’s what can work today without any trusted third party. More releases are planned before the end of this year, expanding the capabilities of Covenants and encrypted markets. Dusk is the beginning, not the whole story.

Nillion is building a decentralized network of encrypted markets where the most sensitive parts of trading activity remain private, while the system still settles in public. This is a fundamental shift from hiding transactions to hiding trading intent.

I’ve shared my NIL trade using the trade-sharing component—details below! Let’s witness together how encrypted markets evolve. 🚀
