In Binance Futures liquidation alerts over the past hour, visible liquidations totaled about $39.51 million, with longs accounting for just 1%. I’ll focus on that 1% first. Nearly $40 million was wiped out in an hour, barely touching longs—the positions being liquidated were leveraged shorts. The alerts also have a reporting limitation: they show only the latest liquidation for each trading pair per second. So $39.51 million is a truncated visible figure; the actual scale is larger. Some short positions were forcibly closed, easing short-term selling pressure and making it easier for prices to get squeezed upward for a while. But these figures can’t tell us whether buyers will step in afterward. I’ll treat them only as a measure of liquidation intensity.
