Something about @KITE AI ’s price action has been stuck in my head the last couple of days. It’s just sitting there around $0.118 — market cap roughly $300 million, fully diluted closer to $1.18 billion. Only about a quarter of the 10 billion tokens are actually circulating. The rest is still locked, and a decent chunk of team and investor tokens starts unlocking in early November.

The project is trying to solve a real problem. AI agents need a way to have identity and move money without needing constant human sign-off, but also without just handing them the keys to everything. Kite’s three-layer setup — user, agent, and temporary session keys — is their shot at that. It’s an EVM Layer 1 built for stablecoin settlement and low fees, basically designed for the kind of high-frequency, small payments agents would make all day.

What still feels off is how little of that actual utility currently depends on holding the token. You can spin up a Passport, set strict spending limits, and let an agent run without ever touching KITE. The people holding the token are the ones carrying the supply risk while the network tries to turn the agent story into real volume.

Later they’re supposed to roll out staking and governance. Module operators will have to lock tokens into permanent liquidity pools, which could create actual demand if the ecosystem ever gets going. Right now it still feels like the market is mostly pricing the story rather than any proven usage.

I’ve watched enough of these cycles to know the difference between a thoughtful design and a token that actually captures value. The unlock schedule is long. The idea is interesting. The numbers still have a lot of proving left to do.
