Someone asks you to install screen-sharing software so they can “help you operate” your device. Is that okay?
Impersonators posing as customer service agents rely on making you panic and trust official-looking sources: first they claim there’s a problem with your account, then they pressure you to cooperate immediately, leaving you no time to verify.
Scammers often use “remote assistance” as an excuse to get you to install screen-sharing software. They’ll be able to see any verification codes, recovery phrases, and account balances displayed on your screen.
If I’d understood this sooner, the money I wasted could’ve bought several hot pot meals.
Account security isn’t something you can take care of just once. Building good habits is far more useful than trying to find a solution after something goes wrong.
