I used to watch candlestick charts every day, chase hot trends, and study all kinds of indicators. In the end, I barely made any money, but I was exhausted.

Then I switched to a simple, no-frills approach: no leverage, no chasing hot trends. I just followed these three steps and gradually grew 3,000U into 27,000U.

Step 1: Test the waters with a small position

I only look for mainstream coins whose trends are just starting, and begin with a position worth 3% of my capital.

I don't try to call the bottom or chase highs. If I get the direction wrong, I get out in time.

Step 2: Add to the position once the trend is confirmed

I wait for the price to break through a key resistance level and then hold that level on a pullback. After that, I gradually increase my position to 20%–30%.

I'm not trying to buy at the absolute bottom. I just want to capture the part of the move that's easiest to trade.

Step 3: Take profits in time

When the market reaches a resistance zone, I take profits in stages. If the trend breaks, I exit. When it's time to withdraw funds, I do that too.

Once a market move is over, I patiently wait for the next opportunity.

After trading for a while, you realize there are really only three hard things:

Having the patience to sit tight when there's no opportunity, daring to act when one comes along, and being willing to walk away after making money.

A lot of people learn a ton of technical analysis, yet their account balance keeps shrinking.

The reason is simple: they trade too quickly, take on positions that are too large, and keep hoping to strike it rich overnight.

These days, I prefer to take it slow, make fewer trades, and protect my profits.

The crypto world has never been short of smart people. What it lacks are people who can keep themselves in check.

Sometimes, learning to play it a little dumb makes it easier to hold on to your money.
