BTC is back above $82K and you’re itching to jump in? 👀
During today’s session, $BTC briefly touched a high of around $82,078 before slipping back below $82K. “Breakout” is still trending, but the price has already pulled back.
Chasing it at a moment like this can feel awful: you go in hoping to catch a breakout, and end up waiting to break even.
I’d wait for it to reclaim $82K and see whether buyers step in on a retest. The move up is eye-catching, but I’d only consider entering if it can hold after pulling back.

Up 9.29% in 4 hours, with OI doubling over a 30-point window while Funding fell to -0.1878%. Price, leverage, and funding rates are pulling in different directions. Public Binance data at 09:36 (UTC) shows the $ERA perpetual trading at 0.07229 USDT, up 9.25% over 24 hours, while spot rose just 4.23% over the same period.
Trading volume over the last 4 complete hours was 3.51 times that of the preceding 4 hours. In the last complete 1-hour period, the price rose another 1.53%, volume increased 23.92% from the previous hour, and OI increased 5.51% at the same time. The simultaneous expansion in volume, price, and open interest suggests leverage is amplifying volatility, but the available data cannot prove that all newly opened positions are longs.
Negative Funding means shorts are paying longs, so if the price continues upward, a squeeze is possible. However, the 106.78% increase in OI over 30 points also indicates rapidly rising crowding, and any move in the opposite direction could accelerate deleveraging.
I see 0.07896 as the upside confirmation level: only a breakout above it on increased volume over a complete 1-hour period, with OI continuing to grow, would support trend continuation. If the price falls below 0.07235 over a complete 1-hour period and OI starts contracting, this leverage-driven rally is more likely to enter a retracement, and I wouldn’t chase the price higher.
Down 31.31% in 4 hours, while quantity OI expanded 52.02% over a 30-point window. The sharp price drop coinciding with rising leveraged positions doesn’t look like an ordinary low-volume pullback. Public Binance data at 07:36 (UTC) showed $APR perpetuals trading at 0.02657 USDT, down 41.78% over 24 hours, with approximately 41.29 million USDT in trading volume.
Trading volume over the last 4 complete hours was 30.70 times that of the preceding 4 hours. The previous complete 1-hour period fell another 9.85%, with volume down 9.61% from the prior hour, while quantity OI increased 19.76%. Expanding open interest during a decline indicates that new leveraged positions are continuing to enter, but the available data cannot prove that they are all new shorts; they could also include hedges, passive positions, or positions rebuilt after liquidations.
The indicative funding rate is approximately +0.0307%, while the most recent actual settlement was +0.0050%, meaning longs are still paying. Positive funding alongside a sharp price drop raises the risk of further long deleveraging, but the funding rate alone cannot confirm that the decline will continue.
I view 0.02571 as the downside confirmation level: only a high-volume break below it on a complete 1-hour candle, with OI continuing to expand, would support continuation of the bearish structure. If the price reclaims 0.03160 while OI stops growing or falls, that would look more like a squeeze in crowded positions in the opposite direction, and I wouldn’t chase shorts at these lows.
Up 8.78% in 4 hours, while the Funding indicative rate fell to -1.2888%—a strong price move coinciding with extreme costs for shorts. Public Binance data at 05:36 (UTC) showed $SAND spot and perpetual prices up 15.11% and 13.03% over 24 hours, respectively, with the perpetual trading at 0.06317 USDT.
Perpetual trading volume over the last 4 complete hours was 1.63 times that of the previous 4 hours, and OI in the 30-point window increased by 52.37%; however, OI fell 0.81% in the last complete hour. Positions have expanded significantly over the medium term, but are starting to loosen in the short term. The available data cannot establish the net direction of new positions, nor can the gains be attributed directly to a short squeeze.
The latest actual Funding settlement rate was -0.1930%, also deep in negative territory, like the current indicative rate. Negative Funding raises the cost of holding short positions, but may also reflect persistent bearish pressure. This alone is not enough to confirm that the move will continue.
I’ll treat 0.06414 as the short-term confirmation level: only a high-volume close above it on a complete 1-hour candle, alongside OI stabilizing, would support further upside. If the price breaks below 0.06144 and OI declines faster, it would look more like a highly leveraged market starting to unwind, and I wouldn’t chase the rally.
Price rose 7.04% in the last complete 1-hour period, while OI fell 5.84%—a rise and deleveraging happening at the same time. Public Binance data at 03:36 (UTC) showed $Q perpetual trading at 0.102384 USDT, still up 55.78% over 24 hours, with trading volume of about 1.134 billion USDT.
Over the last 4 complete hours, the price rose 4.53%, and trading volume was 2.02 times that of the previous 4 hours. But quantity OI in the 30-point window has contracted by 44.10%. This shows that volatility and trading activity remain strong, but does not prove sustained demand from new longs; short covering may be one of the driving forces.
⚠️ The indicative Funding rate is around -0.2346%, while the most recent actual settlement was -0.2066%. Deeply negative Funding can increase the likelihood of a short squeeze, but may also reflect persistent market bets on further declines. On its own, it cannot determine direction.
First, I’ll watch to see whether the low of 0.118015 from the last complete 1-hour period can be reclaimed. Only a full 1-hour candle closing back above that level on higher volume, with OI stabilizing, would count as renewed confirmation for bulls. If the rebound comes on low volume and OI keeps falling, I’ll view it as continued high-volatility deleveraging, not a signal to chase the rally.
The Nasdaq fell about 4.5% this week, while the Dow is still climbing. They’re both U.S. stocks—so why such a big difference? 👀
As of the close on October 16, U.S. Eastern Time, the Nasdaq Composite was down about 4.5% for the week, while the Dow Jones was up about 0.7%. If you’re heavily invested in tech stocks, this week may have felt a lot rougher than the market headlines suggest.
AI-related stocks, which had been driving the market higher, became a drag this time. CoreWeave fell about 12% on Friday, Nvidia dropped about 1.5%, and chip stocks remained under pressure.
The market is starting to ask: As more and more data centers are built, when will all that investment pay off? This is especially concerning for companies expanding with borrowed money. If investors become less optimistic about future revenue, debt and interest costs stand out all the more.
The Dow’s gains this week show just how differently various sectors are performing. It’s too soon to conclude that nobody is buying U.S. stocks just because the Nasdaq fell. But the Dow’s rise doesn’t prove that tech stocks have bottomed out, either.
I trade NQ, and next week I’ll first be watching to see whether tech stocks can stop falling. Even if the Dow keeps climbing, if the Nasdaq rebounds but still can’t get past its previous swing high, I won’t rush into a long just because “U.S. stocks are still strong.”
If the Nasdaq holds its low, breaks above its previous swing high on a rebound, and then pulls back without breaking below it, I’ll have a stronger case for going long. A big drop alone isn’t enough to justify an entry for me.
Do you think tech stocks can stop falling next week?

It was still giving back gains in the previous completed hour, but intraday it has now widened the gap again to nearly 10%. Public Binance data at 13:36 (UTC+8) shows $GTC up 21.02% and 18.64% over 24 hours in spot and perpetual markets, respectively, with perpetual trading volume of about 28.94 million USDT.
Over the last 4 completed hours, the perpetual contract has risen a cumulative 9.82%, with trading volume 5.35 times that of the preceding 4 hours. However, the previous completed 1-hour period was down 1.12%, while volume increased 56.28% from the prior hour. As price volatility picked up, OI by quantity fell 0.20% over one hour and rose only 0.88% over the 30-point window, so leveraged positions have not expanded significantly alongside the price rise.
The indicated funding rate has dropped to -0.2200%, while the most recent actual settlement was only -0.0047%, leaving a clear gap between the expected and settled rates. The current, unclosed price is 9.63% above the previous hour's close, so this rally cannot yet be treated as confirmed by the close. If a subsequent full 1-hour period holds around 0.233, with trading remaining active and OI recovering moderately, that would indicate that buyers have absorbed the intraday acceleration. If the price falls back below 0.2152 alongside contracting OI, even deeply negative funding will not prevent deleveraging after the spike.
Short-term holders now hold 4.08 million $BTC. Are they all buying the dip? 👀
According to analyst Axel Adler Jr., holdings in this group have risen to their highest level since mid-June, up about 422,000 BTC from the July 29 low.
More coins have recently changed hands, but how long these holders will hold depends on the price. If buyers step in during pullbacks, there may be room to move higher; if everyone rushes to sell at the first drop, volatility could increase. I’ll be watching for buying support rather than treating rising holdings as a buy signal.
The gain is already substantial, but leverage pricing has yet to show clear signs of overheating. Public Binance data at 11:36 (UTC+8) shows $TIA spot and perpetual prices up 23.17% and 23.28%, respectively, over 24 hours, with perpetual trading volume at approximately 506 million USDT.
Over the last completed hour, the perpetual price rose 1.90%, while trading volume increased 199.32% from the previous hour. Over the latest four completed hours, it gained 4.36%, with trading volume at 1.24 times that of the preceding four hours. Quantity OI rose 1.53% in one hour and expanded 30.90% over the 30-point window, indicating that new leverage is still entering as prices rise. However, the indicative funding rate is only +0.0017%, and the latest settlement was even -0.0037%, so long positioning does not yet appear extremely crowded.
The current price is already 4.73% above the previous completed hour’s close, so the greater risk here is a pullback after chasing the rally. If the next completed hourly candle can hold near 0.7034, with trading volume and OI continuing to expand moderately, the strong structure still has room to continue. If the price falls back below that level and OI contracts rapidly, it would look more like deleveraging after a spike.
ICNT perpetuals are still rising at an accelerating pace, but the leverage structure has not shifted uniformly bullish. Public Binance data at 09:36 (UTC+8) showed $ICNT at 0.1980 USDT, up 37.41% over 24 hours, with perpetual trading volume of about 193 million USDT.
The previous full one-hour period gained 5.69%, while trading volume increased 98.12% from the hour before and OI quantity rose 5.87%. Across 30 hourly data points, OI expanded by a cumulative 71.97%. Prices and open interest rising together suggest this move is more than just the closing of existing positions. The divergence is that Funding remains at -0.0134%, and the most recent settlement was also -0.0067%: the perpetual market still has a clear short bias amid the rally, so the risk of a squeeze has not gone away.
I would not chase longs based solely on negative Funding. Although the last four full hours saw another 10.50% gain, trading volume was only 64.80% of the previous four-hour period, and the current price is 4.49% above the close of the previous full hour. If volume picks up and the price holds near 0.1895, while OI continues to expand and Funding remains negative, there would be a stronger basis for the uptrend to continue. If the price pulls back as OI drops sharply, that would look more like a high-volatility deleveraging move, significantly increasing the risk of chasing the rally.
Binance has confirmed the migration of VELODROME into AERO and the AERO contract swap: 1 VELODROME will be converted into 0.044 new AERO, while old AERO will be converted at a 1:1 ratio. $AERO Existing spot and perpetual trading will not be affected; the VELODROMEUSDT perpetual contract will be settled and delisted at 17:00 on October 28 (UTC+8), and spot trading will stop at 11:00 on November 3.
AERO’s total supply will increase from 2 billion to 2.12 billion, and its circulating supply from 1 billion to 1.07 billion. According to Binance public data at 07:36 (UTC+8), AERO spot was trading at 0.8794 USDT, down 5.68% over 24 hours; VELODROME spot was at 0.03858 USDT, down 4.60%. At the 0.044 conversion ratio, VELODROME implies an AERO price of about 0.8768 USDT, less than 0.3% away from AERO’s spot price. The market has largely priced in the conversion ratio.
I’m more focused on post-swap supply and liquidity, and wouldn’t treat platform support alone as an upside catalyst. AERO has rebounded just 1.57% over the last four complete hours, the 30-point window for OI by quantity is down 0.53%, and funding is near neutral. If the spread widens, first distinguish between a liquidity discount ahead of the cutoff and a repricing of AERO. Since the contract and spot trading stop at different times, avoid treating short-term deviations near the key dates as risk-free arbitrage.
Today at 16:00: 400 DNA tokens up for grabs—let’s also take a look at the team and its funding 👀
NeoSoul (DNA) will launch on Binance at 16:00 on October 16 #ALPHA . The announced rules are: ▪ Minimum requirement: 245 Alpha Points ▪ Reward per claim: 400 DNA ▪ Claiming cost: 15 Alpha Points ▪ First come, first served; available until all rewards are claimed or the event ends
💡 What does the project do? NeoSoul builds infrastructure for AI agents. Its product NeoTrade lets users configure AI trading agents to analyze the market and execute trades within user-defined permissions and funding limits.
💡 What’s the team’s background? According to RootData: • Co-founder Kaelan: Graduated from the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology and previously worked at HashKey. • Chief AI Architect Marcus Meng: Graduated from Monash University, has over 11 years of experience in technology and product development, and previously served as a blockchain architect at Accenture. • Head of APAC Hans Chen: Studied at the University of California, Davis, and previously worked at Nomura Securities as an analyst and key account manager.
💡 As for funding, public reports show two rounds totaling $15 million: ① April 2026: $4 million seed round. ② August 20, 2026: $11 million Pre-A round, with participation from MH Ventures, Amber Group, ArkStream Capital, 0G Foundation, Kirin Capital, CatcherVC, and New Oak International. The $11 million round was announced in a project press release and disclosed by investors. The earlier $4 million seed round was reported by media, but some funding databases haven’t listed it yet, so it’s best not to treat any single platform as the final word on the number of rounds.
A solid track record and funding are promising, but the product’s real-world performance remains to be seen. We’ll also have to wait for the price and liquidity to find out how much 400 DNA is worth. And remember to factor in the 15 points spent on claiming—don’t count your “big win” before it lands. 🙈
Will you have enough points to claim this airdrop later?!
