Short positions were liquidated; adding margin still wasn’t enough to save them.
According to PANews on October 18, monitoring by Onchain Lens showed that a Hyperliquid trader’s short positions in BTC and ZEC were forcibly liquidated, resulting in a loss of $47,900. The BTC short was worth $4.29 million, with a loss of $46,070; the ZEC short was worth $61,880, with a loss of $1,800. Hours earlier, the trader had deposited 200,000 USDC in an attempt to save the positions.
The trader still holds open short positions worth $17.36 million, with unrealized losses of $149,900.
Observation 1: The positions were still liquidated after an additional 200,000 USDC was deposited, showing that the buffer under leverage was limited. Observation 2: The remaining $17.36 million in short positions has unrealized losses of $149,900, and the risk remains if the market continues to move against the trader.
Are you more focused on the size of the remaining short positions, or on how their unrealized losses change?
