$DBR unlocked 605 million tokens yesterday, equivalent to about 10% of the circulating supply
An unlock releasing tokens equivalent to one-tenth of the circulating supply has now taken place. The takeaway: according to Tokenomist, this was the largest unlock by relative size during the week of October 12–18. In the short term, watch whether insiders’ holdings turn into selling pressure.
1. Size. According to Tokenomist (October 12 snapshot), 605 million $DBR tokens were released in a cliff unlock on October 17, worth approximately $11.69 million and equivalent to about 10% of the circulating supply. ARB (about $17.57 million) and STRK (about $13.2 million) had larger absolute values during the same period, but neither came close to $DBR in relative terms. This was the project’s eighth scheduled release, with the full vesting schedule extending through 2028.
2. Allocation. Core contributors (founders/team) and strategic partners (private investors) account for about 40% of this batch combined. This portion represents potential selling pressure in the usual sense. The ecosystem and foundation allocations are held by governance and the treasury, and will not necessarily enter the market.
3. Price. In the 24 hours after the unlock, $DBR was around $0.0189 (Kraken, October 18 figures), down about 2% from the previous day—a relatively muted reaction. However, based on coinstats (October 5 figures), this release is equivalent to about 10.5 days of network-wide trading turnover, and liquidity in the market is not particularly deep.
4. Hedge. Since mid-2025, the deBridge Foundation Reserve Fund has directed 100% of protocol revenue toward open-market buybacks of $DBR (according to Tokenomist). Buybacks offset selling pressure, not expectations of a price decline. Whether they can absorb the supply depends on whether bridge trading volume and fees can be sustained.
My view: Buybacks and unlocks are now two sides of the same supply equation, and the price will be determined by the balance between them. Over the next few weeks, what really matters is how much of insiders’ allocation becomes actual supply on the market.
