Blockchain Industry | Cross-Chain Bridges
Definition: A cross-chain protocol needs a mechanism to prove that an operation actually occurred on the source chain. Common methods include multisignatures or validator committees, light-client verification, and zero-knowledge proofs.
How to understand it: Cross-chain transfers involve several additional layers of trust compared with transfers on the same chain: in addition to the two chains themselves, you also need to trust the bridge’s contract code and verification mechanism.
Caution: Before bridging, verify the cross-chain bridge’s official website. Fake cross-chain pages are a common phishing tactic.
