Solana $SOL shows resilience, but some areas require ongoing monitoring, says Fidelity

Solana has made significant progress in network health in terms of resilience, economic security, and performance indicators, according to a Fidelity report.

Solana has not experienced any mainnet outages in two years, but concentrations in staking, hosting, and client software could threaten this status, according to the report by Fidelity’s Center for Applied Technology (FCAT).

The report noted that economic security was underpinned by substantial staking participation and incentives that reward validator performance. Low latency, increased capacity, and inexpensive transactions also support practical use at scale.

Still, it noted that several areas related
to decentralization and resilience require ongoing monitoring, including stake concentrations among a small number of validator identities and operators.

Cointelegraph reported on August 21 that Solana had reduced its slot time to 350 milliseconds, marking the first such reduction since the network launched, according to Jacob Creech, vice president of technology at the Solana Foundation.

In June, the Solana Foundation shared plans to reduce slot times to 200 ms, arguing that this would improve latency and speed up confirmations on the blockchain network. Three more reductions of 50 ms are planned.
