According to Jin10, U.S. Navy Capt. Tim Hawkins, a spokesperson for U.S. Central Command, said in an interview this week, as reported by Fox News, that the Strait of Hormuz remains open to shipping and most Iranian attempts to attack vessels there had failed. Hawkins said the U.S. military had helped coordinate protection for thousands of ships that passed safely through the strait, and that about 97% of ships attempting to transit had succeeded without being hit by Iranian projectiles. He added that Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps had not achieved its goal of closing the strait, and that ships continued to pass through.
