【Market Flash】Polygon isn’t just building a chain—it’s moving directly into payments. After acquiring U.S.-regulated crypto payments provider Coinme, it can now handle conversions between crypto assets, stablecoins, and fiat currencies itself. Conversion and transfer fees that previously went to intermediaries may now stay within its own ecosystem, and customer relationships will no longer be handed over to third parties. Its unified payments platform is still in technical preview and available only to a small number of early users. Management expects its regulated payments business to become profitable in 2027. Will public blockchains that only provide the rails now have to get into payments themselves?
