Privacy coin Monero fell to multi-month lows after Binance announced it would be delisting the coin from its platform, Cointelegraph reported.
Binance announced that it will delist Monero on February 20, 2024, along with other tokens such as Aragon (ANT), Multichain (MULTI), and Vai (VAI). The decision was announced on February 6.
The decision to delist XMR was based on a variety of factors, including “contribution to a healthy and sustainable crypto ecosystem,” “unethical or fraudulent conduct or omissions,” and responses to Binance’s regular due diligence requests.
Binance is not the only exchange to delist Monero. At the end of 2023, the cryptocurrency exchange OKX also stated that it would delist Monero and another privacy-focused currency Zcash on January 5, 2024.
Binance also previously announced plans to delist all privacy coins in countries such as France and Italy, but ultimately reversed this decision in June 2023.
