Just watched $BETA plunge 64%. Its current price is basically zero, yet its 24-hour trading volume is still 296K USDT. According to Binance's real-time data, that's not a small amount of volume, which means people are still fighting it out in there. This morning I placed a small order, hoping to catch the falling knife, and set my stop-loss 3% below the previous low. It got blown right through, and I lost the price of a meal. No excuses—I took the loss.
The worst thing you can do when altcoins crash is stubbornly hold on. A stop-loss isn't admitting defeat; it's protecting yourself. Here's my rule of thumb: before entering, figure out how much you can lose and still sleep at night. Place your stop-loss where the chart structure breaks, not at a round number, where it's easy to get swept. You have to accept that stop-losses are a cost of trading, just like fees. Don't curse every time one gets triggered. $PYR and $WTC also got hammered today, down 57% and 56%, respectively. With small-cap coins like these that have poor liquidity, slippage can turn a stop-loss order into a market order, so it's even more important to place it in advance.
The Nasdaq is up a modest 0.3%, and gold is at $2,360. Risk appetite hasn't collapsed—the charts of these altcoins have. Don't buy the dip and end up becoming a bagholder.
Tap $BETA PYR or $WTC to jump straight to Binance and check the charts. If you're itching to trade, think through your stop-loss first.
The above is solely my personal opinion and does not constitute investment advice.
