Polygon Labs completed its acquisition of Coinme on Wednesday, gaining regulated crypto-payment operations to convert cryptocurrencies, stablecoins and traditional money and collect fees; it expects the business to turn profitable in 2027. CEO Marc Boiron said the deal marks Polygon’s move into payments, dominated by Visa and Stripe, according to CoinDesk. Visa processed more than $12.3 trillion in fiscal 2025 and Stripe $1.9 trillion; Stripe is building stablecoin payments, Swift is developing blockchain infrastructure with banks, and Visa has added Polygon to its stablecoin settlement network. Polygon introduced its Open Money Stack in January, and its unified platform remains in technical preview, with early users Tazapay, Mesh, Toku and Kira.
