First, I’m taking “restored” off the timeline. On October 16, SecuX announced a major system upgrade and emergency maintenance, then said at 3:34 p.m. that services had returned to normal. That evening, Ripple CTO David Schwartz said the Android app had pushed him a scam notification; clicking it opened a phishing page asking him to enter his 12/24-word recovery phrase. The company gave no explanation, only reiterating that it would never ask for a recovery phrase. This is the point I’m focused on: the restoration announcement and the phishing notification landed on the same day. On October 17, people were still reporting that their wallets wouldn’t open and that the service remained unavailable. I won’t click a notification that asks outright for a recovery phrase.
