Is $TIA worth chasing? The short answer: chasing the rally in the short term is throwing money away. Let’s talk again if it drops back to 0.65.
$TIA has surged from 0.478 to 0.7625 in 7 days, up 56%, and shot straight to the top of the Plaza trending topics. The hype is real, but I’m bearish on this one.
What the bulls are saying:
1⃣ The Eden chain has launched—Celestia’s own EVM testnet, designed for experimenting with issuing tokens and trading for AI Agents, with $TIA used as gas. The narrative has moved from “modular DA” to “AI agents,” and the market loves that kind of story.
2⃣ The technical breakout is real: it has rebounded more than 100% from the 0.292 low, and the daily chart has moved above the top of its long-term trading range. Trend-followers are starting to turn bullish.
3⃣ The long-term catalysts haven’t played out yet: the Matcha upgrade increased block capacity from 8MB to 128MB and cut inflation to 2.5%; there’s also the PoG proposal (over 95% less issuance + fee burning). If passed, $TIA would go from an inflationary asset to a deflationary one.
What the bears are saying:
1⃣ The price moved ahead of the news: before Eden was officially announced, the price had already climbed from 0.52 to 0.69. Who’s the news meant to provide exit liquidity for?
2⃣ On-chain revenue is abysmal: the entire chain generated just $158 in fees on 10/16—and that was its best day in nearly three weeks. The price is flying while usage is falling.
3⃣ Leverage is dangerously high: open interest is $358 million, while market cap is only $682 million, putting OI at over 50% of market cap. In this setup, a retest of 0.65 could trigger a cascade of stop-losses.
4⃣ Eden is only a closed test, consuming an average of 0.58 $TIA in gas per day—the narrative is borrowed, not backed by earnings.
My view (I’m firmly taking a side: don’t chase in the short term):
0.65 is the lifeline. If it holds, that suggests real money is stepping in and taking a position, which could open the way to a second leg up to 0.78–0.85. If it breaks below 0.65, don’t buy the dip; the next stop is 0.55–0.58. Wait until the leverage has been flushed out. Keep your position to no more than 20%, with a stop-loss below 0.63.
In a word: don’t mistake short-term sentiment for long-term value. Until on-chain revenue catches up, every rally is a distribution window.
