Quantum computing breakthroughs revive concerns about Bitcoin security
A new advance in quantum computing announced by Google has sparked debate about the ability of future computers to break some encryption systems used in digital assets.
According to a report by The Block, Google tested a technique called magic state cultivation on its Willow processor, achieving a significant reduction in errors in a specific experiment.
But turning these results into a quantum computer capable of cracking Bitcoin keys will require further progress in system scale, error correction, and reliability. There is currently no evidence that available quantum computers can steal Bitcoin on a large scale.

Why does this matter?
Cryptocurrency networks may eventually need to transition to encryption algorithms that are resistant to quantum computing. But this is a long-term technical challenge, not a reason to claim that Bitcoin is about to be hacked.
