📢
If you hold VELODROME or $AERO , you need to read this to the end.
What happened (Binance’s official announcement on October 16):
1. Velodrome Finance (VELODROME) will be fully merged into Aerodrome (AERO), and AERO will also undergo a token swap;
2. November 3, 11:00 (Beijing time): Binance will stop trading and delist the VELODROME/USDT spot pair. All open orders will be automatically canceled;
3. November 3, 11:30 (Beijing time): Deposits and withdrawals of the old VELODROME token will be suspended and will no longer be supported once the process is complete. Deposits and withdrawals of the old AERO token will also be suspended at the same time. The opening time for deposits and withdrawals of the new AERO will be announced separately;
4. After the swap, AERO’s total supply will increase from 2 billion to 2.12 billion, and its circulating supply will rise from 1 billion to 1.07 billion. A risk warning banner will be displayed on the trading page.
My take: This is essentially a “brand consolidation”—two leading DEXs from the same ecosystem are being combined, eliminating the liquidity drain caused by a dual-token system. For VELODROME holders, this is actually a good thing: Binance will handle the technical details, so you won’t have to swap tokens manually. But anyone with open orders or planning to deposit tokens needs to take care of it before November 3—open orders will be canceled automatically, and deposits of the old token after 11:30 won’t be credited. That’s the easiest pitfall to fall into. Also note that the circulating supply will increase by 70 million tokens (+7%). Watch for potential short-term selling pressure after the swap is complete, and don’t chase the price on the day the news takes effect.
