Deep Tide TechFlow reported on October 17 that, according to Khaosod English, Thai immigration police arrested a 37-year-old Chinese national in Bangkok. The man was wanted by Chinese authorities on suspicion of involvement in a transnational criminal network and money laundering. Investigators said the network handled transactions worth more than 500 million yuan (approximately 2.485 billion baht).

Police said the suspect used more than 133 accounts to facilitate cryptocurrency and foreign currency exchanges for several criminal groups. He is also suspected of arranging visas for members of a transnational criminal network linked to other money laundering cases. To evade arrest, he used forged documents to declare his address, changed his license plates, and had his vehicle wrapped in a different color. Police eventually arrested him at a luxury home in Bangkok’s Saphan Sung district.

The man’s permission to stay in Thailand expired approximately 3 years and 8 months ago. He has been charged with illegal overstaying under Section 81 of the Immigration Act. The Thai authorities will complete the relevant legal proceedings first, then coordinate with the Chinese authorities to repatriate him so that the arrest warrant can be executed.
