Technical principles | How do proof of work and proof of stake differ?
Under Ethereum’s proof-of-stake system, 12 seconds make up one slot, and at most one block can be produced per slot.
Proof of stake uses staked tokens as collateral: validators who violate the rules have some of their stake slashed, while those who are offline for a long time also lose some of their balance.
