British unmanned boats strike Russian port for the first time
The Ukrainian Armed Forces have begun using British K3 Scout unmanned boats to strike Russian ports on the Black Sea, including during an attack on the port of Sochi.
The boat can travel up to 1,200 km, reach speeds of up to 100 km/h, and operate autonomously for up to 30 days. It can carry up to 600 kg of payload, including a warhead, missiles, or reconnaissance drones.
The scale of K3 Scout use remains unknown. Defense Express suggests the boats are being used as part of trials, since Ukraine’s defense industry offers alternatives that are highly effective and less expensive. A K3 Scout costs about $821,000 per unit, although this price includes associated equipment, operator training, and maintenance.
