I used to track capital rotation “by eye”—just watching what was growing faster that week🔍. Eventually, I put together a simple process that works for me👇.
Every few days, I check three things in a row:
First—the one-month BTC dominance chart. I’m interested not in the value, but in the direction: if the line keeps trending down steadily for several weeks, that’s the first signal.
Second—I compare how the top 10 altcoins have performed against BTC over the same period. If most of them are consistently outperforming BTC, rather than just one or two leaders, it’s no longer a coincidence.
Third—I look at trading volumes among mid-cap coins. This is the most delayed signal, but also the most reliable: if money has reached this part of the market too, the rotation is already gaining momentum.
How I put this into practice: while dominance $BTC is only just starting to decline, I don’t rush to shift my entire portfolio into alts—I wait for at least two of the three signals to confirm at the same time. This has saved me from several false entries, when it seemed like “this is it,” but in reality it was just a brief spike.
Do you have your own regular checklist, or do you just go by the situation?👇
