Some investors are considering valuing Anthropic at around $1.5 trillion, below the previous expectation of around $2 trillion for its November IPO, following the release of its latest financial results.

According to Reuters, citing people familiar with the matter, the valuation was discussed at an investor event in San Francisco on October 14. Some existing and prospective investors are now considering lowering their valuation expectations.

Anthropic reported third-quarter revenue of $16.8 billion, up 45% from the previous quarter, and also posted an adjusted profit. However, second-quarter revenue had more than doubled from the previous quarter, reaching $11.6 billion. The slowdown in growth disappointed some investors.

The $1.5 trillion valuation reflects discussions among investors, not the final IPO valuation. Anthropic did not immediately respond to Reuters’ request for comment.
