Asked: What is address poisoning, and why does it fool people?
My answer: Address poisoning is when scammers generate similar addresses that match the first and last several characters of addresses you commonly use, then slip them into your transaction history. Once an on-chain transfer is confirmed, it cannot be reversed, and assets sent to a similar address usually cannot be recovered.
