Just came across a wild set of stats: Bitcoin is still above $81,000, yet Google searches for “bitcoin” have dropped to a six-year low, with an interest score of just 14 out of 100. Retail investors can’t even be bothered to click on it.

On October 15, on-chain analyst Willy Woo put it this way: when nobody’s interested, that’s the best time to buy; when everyone’s asking how to buy crypto, that’s actually the signal to get out. The search spikes in 2017 and 2021 both came around the market tops.

Even wilder is the other side of the story: fewer people are searching for “bitcoin,” but searches for “buy crypto” have hit a new high for the year—the money hasn’t left; it’s all gone off chasing thrills in altcoins.

A Quiet = rock-solid bottom; quietly follow the big players and scoop some up
B If nobody’s searching, there’s no fresh demand; don’t compare this to 2018
