Deutsche Bank, one of Europe’s largest banks, has just received approval from German regulator BaFin and is officially preparing to launch crypto asset custody services in its home market. It won’t just support Bitcoin and Ethereum—it’s also bringing in Circle’s USDC and a euro stablecoin. Deutsche Bank’s head of corporate banking, Podobnik, revealed that the next step is to roll out these custody services to major financial centers across Asia in 2027, and that the bank has even factored its crypto business into its annual revenue growth target of 8%. Traditional banking giants used to say they were still weighing their options, but now that the regulatory green light is in place, they’re racing faster than anyone to capture institutional custody assets.
