🔥 CPI came in hotter than expected again—can BTC still hold on to its rate-cut dreams?

The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics reported that September CPI rose 3.7% year over year, above the market’s 3.6% forecast and August’s 3.4%. Month over month, CPI rose 0.6%. After the data was released, BTC briefly fell below $82,000, then hit a low of around $79,800 over the following days.

📋 Breaking down the data
• Headline CPI: 3.7% (forecast: 3.6%)
• Core CPI: 2.6% (forecast: 2.5%; previous: 2.4%), up 0.3% month over month
• Gasoline prices rose 9.1% in September, accounting for more than half of the monthly increase
• The energy index rose 5.2% for the month

🏦 What does this mean for the Fed?
The Fed raised rates by 25 basis points in September, bringing them to 3.75%–4.00%. Its next meeting is October 27–28. CME FedWatch showed that after the CPI report, the probability of a rate hike in October briefly rose above 50% (from around 22% before the release), then eased back. Markets are still repricing the outlook.

📈 Impact on BTC
• Higher rates for longer tend to weigh on non-yielding assets
• But most of the increase came from energy; if oil prices fall, inflationary pressure could ease
• The real concern for markets is that core CPI has remained persistently strong

🎯 Key levels (based on daily charts over the past 10 days)
• Support: $80,400 / $79,800
• Resistance: $83,500 / $84,350
BTC is currently around $81,600, near the middle of the range. Watch for volatility ahead of the October 28 rate decision.
