Both Bitcoin and Ethereum are mainstream public blockchains, so what exactly sets them apart?
My understanding: Bitcoin prioritizes simple rules and network stability, and upgrades are made very cautiously. Ethereum places greater emphasis on programmability and ecosystem growth, and its protocol is upgraded more frequently.
Bitcoin has a supply cap of about 21 million coins; Ethereum has no hard supply cap, and its supply changes based on staking rewards and the burning of base fees.
What I do: When comparing the two, focusing on their designs and use cases is more meaningful than just looking at their prices—and makes it easier not to get swept up in market sentiment.
$BTC and $ETH are the native coins of Bitcoin and Ethereum, respectively, but they have different design goals. Current price: 81584.2.
