Someone asked: What exactly is a smart contract?
My answer: The concept of a “smart contract” was first proposed by cryptographer Nick Szabo in the 1990s. Smart contracts themselves can’t read off-chain information. If they need external information, such as prices, it has to be brought on-chain through an oracle.
