Latest developments in the forex market: The U.S. Dollar Index closed near 101.87 last Friday, down about 0.35% for the week, ending a four-week winning streak and posting its first weekly decline in over a month. The main reason was that, although U.S. data such as the PPI and retail sales exceeded expectations, several Federal Reserve officials said they were in no hurry to tighten policy further, significantly cooling market expectations for an October rate hike. At the same time, risk-averse flows triggered by a pullback in AI stocks went primarily into U.S. Treasuries and currencies such as the Swiss franc and pound sterling, narrowing the dollar’s interest-rate advantage. The euro rose for the first time in six weeks on a weekly basis, while the dollar-yen pair traded in a narrow range around the 158 level. In the near term, attention is focused on the Fed’s October policy meeting. If rates are left unchanged, the dollar may remain weak and range-bound. $DXY $EUR For informational purposes only; this does not constitute investment advice.
