On October 11, I wrote a T-16 post about Binance’s compliance changes in Brazil. The countdown is now at T-10: on October 27, trading will be halted for 22 tokens in Brazil, and 8 services will be restricted at the same time.

Here’s the timeline again (the background is new regulations from Brazil’s central bank, with Binance making a compliance-related transition):
1. October 27: Trading of 22 tokens will stop for Brazilian users; 8 services—Loans, Mining Pool, Cloud Mining, Margin, Launchpool, Megadrop, HODLer Airdrops, and Alpha 2.0—will be restricted. Existing positions can only be reduced, not increased.
2. October 29: Eligible Brazilian users will migrate to Binance’s local Brazilian entity.
3. November 1: International crypto transfers by Brazilian users will require additional declarations and verification. Withdrawals won’t be approved unless users provide the purpose of the transfer and counterparty details.

Some familiar names are on the list of 22 tokens: $USDE (Ethena’s stablecoin), MANTRA ($OM), $GMT , as well as ZIL, ONT, RVN, XVG, USTC, DCR, ONE, STORJ, and others. This only applies to Brazilian users; trading in other countries is unaffected. Balances can still be withdrawn after the 27th, so there’s no need to panic-sell.

My take: This is part of Binance’s broader response to regulatory “localization” around the world. Brazil’s central bank wants licenses and local entities, so Binance is splitting off its Brazilian operations and cutting services with high regulatory costs. We’ll see a similar playbook repeated in more countries: the delisting list itself isn’t the important part; what matters is that “as compliance costs rise, the liquidity of long-tail tokens will be eaten away by the compliance tax.” Brazilian users holding tokens on the list should reduce or withdraw what they need to over the next 10 days. Non-Brazilian users can treat this as a case study: which services will the next market to be brought into compliance cut first?

Do you hold any tokens on the list? Let’s talk in the comments.
