📰 Fidelity Digital Assets has surfaced a rather unusual finding: the U.S. 10-year Treasury yield has climbed to its highest level since Bitcoin was created, while the correlation between BTC and 10-year real interest rates has already topped 0.6 in 2026, also setting an all-time high.

🔥 These two have historically had little correlation. By conventional wisdom, rising interest rates are hardly good news for BTC. But over the past two months, BTC has gained nearly 30%, while the 10-year Treasury yield has also risen by more than 10%. The old playbook doesn’t quite fit this time.

💡 The underlying pressure is more direct. U.S. federal debt has surpassed $40 trillion, and interest payments have exceeded Medicare spending, making them the second-largest item in the federal budget. Fidelity believes that if this trend continues, interest payments could soon become the federal budget’s largest expense.

Honestly, the market may be rethinking BTC. Its fixed supply and transparent issuance mechanism are leading more people to view it as a potential hedge against currency debasement and sovereign debt risk. In other words, rising Treasury yields may not simply reflect higher borrowing costs; they could also reveal growing concerns about fiscal pressure.

🤔 If BTC and real interest rates continue to move in positive correlation, would you treat it as a short-term anomaly, or would you change how you think about BTC?
