🗓️ October 17 | Crypto Daily

The market was soft over the weekend, but the trend hasn’t broken down: BTC held above $80,000, though fund flows showed no clear sign of an offensive push.

【Market】
BTC: $81,478, 24H -0.96%
ETH: $2,419.47, 24H -0.81%
SOL: $104.24, 24H -1.11%

Total crypto market capitalization is approximately $2.75 trillion, down 3.61% over 24 hours; BTC dominance is 59.36%. The market is still showing “BTC holding up while altcoins come under pressure.” Weekend liquidity is thin, so don’t mistake a small bounce for a reversal.

【What’s Really Worth Watching Today】
1. The latest publicly reported trading day for U.S. spot crypto ETFs was October 16: reported flows for both BTC and ETH were zero that day; spot SOL ETFs saw $12.7 million in net outflows. BTC recorded $146 million in net outflows over the past seven trading days, while ETH saw $250.4 million in net outflows over the past seven days—the short-term stance of investors remains cautious.
2. BTC briefly fell below $80,000 on Friday before quickly recovering, and is now back around $81,500. This suggests there is support at $80,000, but ETF flows haven’t picked up in tandem, so the rebound is not particularly convincing.
3. U.S. regulation continues to look like “Congress is stalled, but agencies are moving ahead”: the CFTC is seeking public comment on retail crypto trading and a new crypto market registration framework; an SEC official said securities perpetual contracts could launch this quarter. The direction is becoming clearer, but this is not a major overnight catalyst.
4. Thailand’s regulatory framework for BTC and ETH ETFs took effect on October 16, with the first batch limited to BTC and ETH. Regulated access in Asia continues to expand, a long-term positive for institutional adoption.
5. Security concerns are still ringing alarm bells: public tracking indicates the Ledger supply-chain compromise affected approximately $100 million and 335 wallets. A hardware wallet isn’t “absolutely safe just because you bought it”—recheck the source of purchase, tamper-evident seals, and the environment in which you enter your recovery phrase.

【What’s Ahead】
• October 18: Watch China’s GDP and other data, which could directly affect sentiment toward Asian risk assets.
• October 19: Canada CPI.
• October 20, Beijing time: Watch China’s LPR; U.S. initial jobless claims and PMI are also due later in the week.

【My Take】
There are buyers around $80,000, but ETF flows have been weak for a full week, and neither ETH nor SOL has shown independent strength. This looks more like a recovery within a weak, choppy market than confirmation of a new major uptrend. I won’t chase altcoins until BTC reclaims and holds the $83,000–$85,000 range.

Trading strategy: Keep leverage low and scale in gradually. If BTC fails to hold $80,000, proactively reduce exposure; consider taking on more risk only after it holds above $85,000.

Risk warning: Crypto assets are extremely volatile. The above is for market observation only and does not constitute investment advice.
