The market’s in the red, but it quietly took the top spot for gains
Today’s market was completely one-sided: $BTC -1.0%, $ETH -0.9%, $XRP -2.3%. Among the 80 coins on Binance Spot with 24-hour trading volume of at least $5 million, 21 were up and 59 were down. On a day like this, TIA topped the gainers’ list, up 16.1% to 0.6837.
Looking at the market structure: futures trading volume over the past 24 hours was $1.17B, with $156.0M in open interest across the market. The move was clearly driven by futures. $5.3M in liquidations across the market over 24 hours, affecting 2,746 traders—and despite the 16.1% rise, shorts weren’t liquidated much. That suggests this wasn’t a single huge green candle squeezing shorts, but a gradual, step-by-step climb.
With this kind of move, long positions have widely dispersed entry prices, so its staying power depends entirely on whether buying demand can keep up. On the flip side, a pullback is less likely to trigger a cascade of selling, making the price action cleaner.
When a coin is “quietly being scooped up while everything else keeps falling,” how do you usually keep an eye on it? TIA
