Learning to analyze charts doesn’t have to be complicated. Often, the main mistake beginners make is filling the chart with too many lines and trading amid visual noise on very low timeframes.
1️⃣ Identify the Trend (Macro vs. Micro View)
* Start with a higher timeframe (4H or 1H chart): Looking at a higher timeframe gives us the asset’s overall direction. If the trend on the 4H chart is bullish, focus mainly on looking for buying opportunities (don’t try to predict tops).
* Zoomed-In View (15M or 5M chart): Once the main direction is established, we move to lower timeframes only to find a precise entry. For intraday trades, I usually look at the 3m and 5m charts.
* Trading in the direction of the main trend drastically increases your chances of success.
2️⃣ True Breakout vs. False Breakout (Avoid the Trap!) 🚨
❌ False Breakout: The price moves past a key level with only a wick (the candle’s “nose”), but the candle body closes back inside the range. Don’t enter here! It’s a liquidity trap.
✅ True Breakout (Confirmation): The full candle body closes clearly beyond support or resistance. Buying or selling pressure is real.
3️⃣ The Right Entry: Wait for the “Retest” 🎯
* Don’t chase the price: Let the true breakout happen first.
Wait for the Retest: The price almost always comes back to test the broken level (the former ceiling now acts as a floor).
* Entry Point: When the price touches the broken level and shows rejection (a confirmation candle), you make your Confirmed Entry.
* Risk Management: Place your Stop Loss just below the support level to protect your capital if the analysis is invalidated.
