Lighter EVM Devnet Launches

- Lighter and Axiom have launched a developer network for an OpenVM-powered, EVM-equivalent rollup. It shares a single ZK proof settlement to Ethereum with Lighter Core.
- Developers can deploy using Foundry, Hardhat, Viem, and Ethers; read Core account, balance, position, order, and market data directly; and place, amend, or cancel orders through contracts. Assets can be transferred between L1, Core, and EVM. Applications are currently by email, with access rolling out in phases. All developers will have to wait a few more weeks.

Lighter has no token yet. This news only affects sentiment in the L2 and perp DEX sectors; settlement demand and the gas consumption curve remain unchanged. In the short term, it will still follow the broader market, and a rebound to the upper edge of the previous high-volume trading range is a spot to reduce your position. For those holding L2 tokens, will you use this news to take profits or add to your position to lower your average cost?
