【XRP Is on the Edge of a Cliff—What’s Different This Time】

On-chain data is showing an interesting signal: XRP’s active addresses fell by nearly 30% last week, but net inflows to exchanges hit a two-month high. In other words, retail investors are pulling out while big players are buying in. I’ve seen this kind of divergence many times—it’s often a sign that a major move is coming.

With BTC dominance at a lofty 59.4%, and $ 261M flowing out of BTC ETFs, it’s clear that smart money is rebalancing. ETH saw the heaviest liquidations, nearly $ 6 hundred million, while XRP held up relatively well. And, wouldn’t you know it, XRP funds saw net inflows over the same period, against the trend.

Thinking back to when I worked in cross-border payments in 2019, XRP’s theoretical model did make sense: fast, low-cost interbank transfers. But the problem is that seven years have passed, and real-world commercial adoption has been far slower than expected. Like certain A-share concept stocks, it has a compelling story, but the practical use cases are still being refined.

Here’s where things stand now: support at 1.26, resistance at 1.38, and an increasingly narrow trading range. The FNG Fear and Greed Index is at 63, which shows that market sentiment is still holding up, but trading volume isn’t keeping pace. In my experience, this kind of low-volume consolidation often isn’t a bottoming process—it’s the market building up momentum for another leg down.

So here’s the question: can XRP’s current wave of momentum really translate into real-world adoption?

My view: there’s a chance of a technical rebound in the short term, but over the medium to long term, the deciding factor will be how much of the project’s commercial promise is actually delivered. There may be some regulatory easing, but don’t expect a single bullish candle to change anyone’s conviction. Hot themes are rotating quickly in the A-share market, risk appetite is declining, and the crypto market will feel some of that too.

Is this worth betting on? Start by asking yourself: are you betting on a technological revolution, or just playing the price action?
