👀 Is FUD coming for MicroStrategy in November?
MSCI’s new rules for “non-operating companies” put MicroStrategy ($MSTR), Metaplanet, and other firms holding crypto in their treasuries at risk of being removed from indexes. Final exclusions have not yet been confirmed.
November 11: final list.
November 30: changes take effect after market close.
This is not a Nasdaq delisting. $MSTR shares would continue trading, but funds tracking the affected indexes would be forced to sell if the company is removed.
JPMorgan previously estimated potential selling pressure of $2.8 billion, although that figure was based on an initial proposal.
It’s not the end of MicroStrategy, but forced selling is more than just FUD. 📉
